RAVENOL becomes a partner of Opel Motorsport

June 14, 2015

  • Extensive collaboration with a far-reaching perspective

  • Cooperation in Opel’s Rallye sport and circuit engagemen

  • Merging of synergies in the technical development of motor sports

Rüsselsheim. Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH (RAVENOL) to be a partner of Opel Motorsport. The German premium lubricant manufacturer’s logos are already adorning the ADAM Cup race cars at the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup, the most attended Rallye brand cup in Europe for young drivers up to 27 years, as well as both of the ADAM R2 creations of the ADAC Opel Rallye junior team. This factory team, made up of the 2013 and 2014 ADAC Opel Rallye Cup’s high achievers, Marijan Griebel (26, Germany) and Emil Bergkvist (20, Sweden) are competing this season with much success in the Rallye Junior European Championship (FIA ERC Junior). After two victories in the first three races of the season, Emil Bergkvist is at the top of the FIA ERC Junior intermediate rankings against the best Rallye talent in Europe.

The partnership between Opel Motorsport and RAVENOL, that extends from Opel‘s circuit engagement in the Astra OPC Cup in the Nürburgring VLN Long-distance Championship to the famous north loop of the Nürburgring, is planned for the middle-term. Of course, Opel Motorsport’s race cars will be provided with RAVENOL‘s high quality lubricant straight away. Opel and RAVENOL’s synergies will also be merged for the technical development of Opel race cars and they will strive for optimal tailor-made solutions for motor, gear and hydraulic oils.

“We are very pleased to be collaborating which such a renowned partner as RAVENOL,” explains Opel marketing boss, Tina Müller. “This cooperation is particularly interesting to us because it clearly goes beyond a classic sponsoring. I am convinced that the merging of Opel Motorsport and RAVENOL’s expertise will create an extremely powerful combination, from which both companies will both profit enormously. Who knows? Maybe together we can make our already very successful Opel ADAM R2 even faster. Currently our factory driver, Emil Bergkvist, is leading the Rallye Junior European Championship and we will do everything possible to keep it that way until the end of the season.”

Martin Huning, responsible for motor sports at RAVENOL, adds: “As a producer of race lubricants our eyes are always on the application and further development of our products. That’s why the partnership with Opel is, above all else, a technical collaboration. We are sharing the philosophy of affordable circuit sports with a high performance vehicle as well as supporting young people. We are glad to be working with a manufacturer with such a long and successful history in motor sports. I am sure we can celebrate another beautiful success together with Opel.”

Opel Motorsport and RAVENOL will complete their first joint commitments on the 20th of June in the fifth race of the season at the Astra OPC Cup at Nürburgring and a week later at the fourth race of the ADAC Opel Rallye junior team in FIA ERC Junior 2015 in the GEKO Ypres Rallye in the Belgian Ypres.

RAVENOL Extra Fuel Economy EFE SAE 0W-16 – The World’s first API SN Licensed 0W-16 Engine Oil

February 19, 2015

A world premiere was held at the Automechanika 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany, when the Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH “RAVENOL” presented their new, innovative engine oil RAVENOL EFE “Extra Fuel Economy” SAE 0W-16 to a wide audience.

The German Lubricants Manufacturer is the first company to release an engine oil with the specification API-SN and the viscosity SAE 0W-16 on the market and as such positions itself once more as a world leader in the new era of advanced Lubrication Technology. RAVENOL Extra Fuel Economy EFE SAE 0W-16 is the first of the new generation of low viscosity engine oils in the world to be Approved and Licensed with the specification "API SN" by the American Petroleum Institute (API) with headquarters in Washington, D.C.

This futuristic low viscosity lubricant which uses revolutionary new additives such as Trinuclearem Molybdenum and OFM (Organic Friction Modifiers) to give it unique properties has been demonstrated to provide greatly improved fuel economy as well as extending the life span of the engine. By reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere, the use of RAVENOL EFE “Extra Fuel Economy” SAE 0W-16 will also significantly reduce the impact of the internal combustion engine on the environment.

RAVENOL EFE “Extra Fuel Economy” SAE 0W-16 is a high performance, low friction, fuel efficient engine oil that is more than capable of meeting the demands of today’s motoring. It is suitable for both modern petrol engines and hybrid vehicles under all operating conditions, if the use of a Low-Viscosity oil of the grades 0W-16, 0W-20 or 5W-20 is recommended by the engine manufacturer.

As the first company in the world to obtain the Approval and Licensing of this new product by the major U.S. lobby group of the oil industry, Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH has brought a product to the market that sets new standards in the trend to developing economical and environmentally friendly high-performance lubricants. With the introduction of RAVENOL EFE “Extra Fuel Economy” SAE 0W-16 this forward thinking manufacturer has once again systematically pursued innovative ideas to develop and economically produce a new lubricant meeting the exacting demands of the latest generation of Automotive Lubrication Technology.

Paul Becher (A member of the Executive Board) is delighted with his company’s success. "To be the world's first company offering an engine oil with a viscosity of 0W-16 and the specification API-SN fills us with pride. We evaluate the success of this venture especially high because we are a medium-sized company with comparably limited resources. But this can also be an advantage because the decision-making processes are relatively short and we can react to market demands more flexibly. We are especially looking forward to being able to provide our customers with this new range of high-quality products”
